🧵 How to Use These Instructions
Place the markers (PM) as indicated on your row or round. These will guide your shaping.
After, when working your increase or decrease round:
- For decreases: Work the decrease using the two stitches before each marker.
Tip: If choosing Symmetrical spacing and your results show only one stitch before a marker, switching to Standard spacing may give you a more workable layout for decreases. - For increases: Depending on your method — whether you’re picking up a new stitch between two stitches or working into an existing one:
- M1 (Make One) or similar: Increase right before each marker.
- kfb (knit front and back) or similar: Use the stitch immediately before the marker.
Which spacing style should I choose?
The Standard option spaces increases or decreases evenly across your row or round, ending with a marker after the last stitch. This works especially well for knitting in the round, where placing a marker at the very end of the round doesn’t interfere with the flow of your work.
The Symmetrical option, on the other hand, keeps stitches, when possible, at both ends of the row before the first increase/decrease and after the last increase/decrease. This is ideal for flat knitting, where those edge stitches can be used for seaming, selvage edges, or simply to maintain visual balance.
